Sure Signs You Should Let a Client Go!

Should You Let a Client Go?
Something is awry between you and a client when
you consider transitioning your relationship. Ask
yourself, in identifying the cause of your
disharmony, is it:
Missed payments or chronically late payments
Broken appointments
Expectations that you cannot or will not meet
Discordant personalities
Lack of an expertise which the client seeks
Extra work required of you (travel, special
consideration)
A combination of the above
Does a solution exist which will honor both you and
your client? For example, might a chronically late
payer sign-up for automatic payments? Have you
asked a distant client to pay for your travel expenses
to meet their special request?
While income is an important and obvious criteria as
you consider terminating a relationship, look beyond
simple dollar signs to make a decision that honors
you and your client.
Have you openly discussed your concerns with
your client?
Does your client have unrealistic expectations?
Are you the best provider to serve this
client?
I once had an excellent massage therapist who upon
hearing of an acute pain promptly referred me to an
acupuncturist. The result? My pain was greatly
reduced and I knew that my massage therapist had
my best interest at heart. Be quick to refer current
and potential clients to a provider who can deliver
their desired result.
Finally there are some individuals best served by
other practitioners. In making this choice, do you
place a high value on your own peace of mind? If
you dread seeing a name on your appointment sheet
for any reason, know that your
own contentment does have great value!
If previous discussions have not resolved a
contentious or uncomfortable situation, ask
yourself, How much is my peace of mind worth?
Then LISTEN to the answer, and
ACT
with honor toward yourself and toward your client!
The best solution for both may be a clarification of
expectations, if not a parting of ways.
Join me each month for an insightful
and fun discussion related to building your business.
In August I will share "Three
Easy Ways to Attract New Clients!"
I invite you to forward my e-zine to friends and
colleagues you feel may benefit.
Till next time,
Blessings & Light
